"What if theological education was not first and foremost about what we know, but about what we love?" - James K. A. Smith

Questions You Might Have

Q. Do I have to have a Bachelor’s Degree?

A. Yes, a Bachelor’s Degree is required. We also accept any Bachelor’s Degree and do not limit the fields of study. If you do not have a Bachelor’s Degree contact our Director of Recruitment – David Hanson at dhanson@redeemerseminary.org

Q. Does Redeemer provide student housing?

A. Redeemer does not provide student housing. The main reason is that our campus is rented space. We rent space in order to keep tuition costs as low as possible and to provide the best professors to educate our students, and not in real estate. Many students live very close to the seminary in a large apartment complex called The Village. If you have questions regarding housing please contact our Director of Recruitment.

Q. How long does it take to know if I am accepted after submitting my application?

A. We should contact you within weeks of submitting your application. We intend to contact you as soon as possible so you may begin to make preparations for your transition into seminary. If you have not heard back from us after this amount of time please contact David Hanson our Director of Recruitment.

Q. How long does seminary take?

A. An M.Div. degree takes 3-4 years to complete. If you plan to work while attending Redeemer perhaps the longer track would be easier. Some students do not have to work and the shorter track is a possibility for them. We do however encourage students to take their time in seminary. We do not want Redeemer to be an academic factory of sorts where you just get a diploma, but rather a community that sees transformation in students to prepare them as best as possible for a lifetime of ministry. Each student is completely different in their abilities and gifts, therefore we are available to counsel students to help them understand how quickly to go through their program of study.

Q. Can I work while going to school?

A. Absolutely. Most students will have some form of employment while attending Redeemer. We suggest however not working over 20-25 hours if you intend to complete the program in 3-4 years.

Q. Can I test out of Greek and Hebrew?

A. Students may test out of Greek and Hebrew based on proficiency exams. Some students who have taken Greek or Hebrew in the past will test out of Greek 1 and Hebrew 1 but will take the rest of the Greek and Hebrew curriculum. Each student will know their own capabilities with the languages and our Dean of Students can help them assess what would be right for them if they desire to test out of any portions of the language curriculum.
