Redeemer Seminary Registrar Position Opening

Redeemer Seminary invites applications for the position of Registrar due to the upcoming retirement of our current Registrar. The position is now open for transition and the selected candidate will be oriented by our current Registrar. Applicants should read the job description for the Registrar position and direct their inquiries to Dr. Douglas Gropp, Academic Dean at dgropp@redeemerseminary.org.

Job Description: Registrar

The Registrar shall be appointed by the Academic Dean in consultation with the President. The Registrar shall be responsible to the Academic Dean for the implementation of the policies established by the Faculty and procedures established by the administration with reference to the responsibilities here outlined:

    1. The Registrar shall operate the Registrar’s office in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act and shall supervise the Redeemer Seminary’s compliance with FERPA.
    2. The Registrar shall manage student, faculty, and academic records in paper format and in electronic databases. The Registrar shall be the chief manager of information in the Seminary’s Student Information System.
    3. The Registrar shall register students, advise them concerning program requirements, maintain all records of their academic progress, and mail official reports of academic standing at the end of the academic year.
    4. The Registrar shall study trends in student enrollment and withdrawal and shall present such information and conclusions to the Vice President for Student Affairs and the Faculty.
    5. The Registrar shall prepare schedules and calendars of classes for each term.
    6. The Registrar shall preserve records of former students and issue transcripts.
    7. The Registrar shall collect and maintain an archive of course syllabi and supporting course resources provided by instructors.
    8. The Registrar shall issue class lists to instructors, make available to the Faculty academic records upon request, and compile annual grade distribution records.
    9. The Registrar shall counsel students on academic matters.
    10. The Registrar shall submit an annual report to the Academic Dean.
    11. In the event of resignation from this administrative office, the Registrar shall inform the Academic Dean of this intention at least three months prior to the effective date of resignation.
    12. The Registrar shall manage the preparation of academic diplomas and certificates.

Qualifications of Candidates for the Registrar Position:

Missional: Candidates should be in agreement with and supportive of the Mission and Core Values of Redeemer Seminary.

Educational: Candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree.

Professional: Candidates should have experience with similar functions, though no prior experience as a registrar is required.

Personal:

    1. The Registrar should possess strong skills in interpersonal communication and relationships as student advising is a major activity in the position.
    2. The Registrar should be detail-oriented as the role of the Registrar could be described as an “academic records accountant.”
    3. The Registrar should have strong skills in planning as the scheduling of courses can present a puzzling task of coordinating multiple items with irregular schedules.

Position Compensation

    1. The schedule of the Registrar can be arranged as 30-40 hours per week, 4-5 days per week position. The schedule can be flexibly arranged under the supervision of the Academic Dean.
    2. The salary is competitive with the salaries of a similar position in a similarly sized institution.
    3. The position included health, dental, life and disability insurance benefits.
    4. The position includes two weeks paid vacation and ten days of paid sick time.
