Redeemer Seminary is proud to announce Dr. Hannah Mowrey as our new Organizing Director for Redeemer’s Center for Worship and Music.
Redeemer’s Center for Worship and Music is a new department of the seminary that aims to promote, edify, and encourage students to study the history and practice of worship and music in accordance with the scriptures. The Center will exist primarily for the student body, but will also be open to worship leaders, pastors, and congregants who want to acquire a deepened appreciation of how we understand worship and music through the Christian worldview.
The first course will be offered in early 2013, with the whole sequence of classes being prepared for the fall of 2013. The next few years will bring a new Certificate in Worship and Music from the Center.
Hannah is excited to help students wrestle with questions regarding how we think of worship and music as the corporate body of Christ and to help students see how God has used music throughout history.
Hannah grew up here in Dallas with four younger brothers. She received her Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from Texas Christian University in 2003, her Master in Music degree in Musicology from Rice University in 2005, and her Doctorate in Musicology from the Eastman School of Music in 2010. She worked as a teacher at Providence Christian School of Texas from 2010-2012.
Hannah enjoys horseback riding, running, music, and reading. She currently attends Park Cities Presbyterian Church.
The Redeemer community is excited to welcome Hannah to the seminary and looks forward to seeing her exercise her gifts in the coming years.
